Updating garmin nuvi 660 dating the virgo man

Read on to see why I purchased a Garmin GPS and how I learned to switch the maps on my Garmin Nuvi GPS.

Printing my driving directions from the internet was always very easy and more than enough for me…until recently.

The device does not load to the main menu and will not go into mass storage mode when connected to a computer.

The device powers on, freezes at the Garmin logo, then flashes a white screen briefly.

i recently was maneuvering through the screens of my garmin 200w and it just froze, is there a reset button or easy method to remove battery?

power switch does not assist either, screen completely locked up Guys - you are a lifesaver - here am I stuck on the a16 on northern france and the garmin nuvi 250w just locks up - freezes - can't turn off, won't do anything - and I am tryng to find an obscure town in the loire on a deadline.

Hold both the finger on the screen AND the on button for at least a minute and then shut down the unit and see if that works for you. Good luck, Jeff Sh canuk's solution worked for me, the others didn't.

Computer doesn't see it, won't get to master reset screen and basically it is just a GARMIN 5" billboard. Thanks I have a 1450 that worked fine until an update.

It actually worked for awhile past that so it may be unrelated but it started acting wonky with random reboots right after the update.

I really like the Nuvi systems because they work well everywhere and they are inexpensive.

That being said…I got lost one time in Italy as well…but we found our way soon enough after asking around. When traveling to foreign countries, having a GPS system is definitely better than printing directions or using your cell phone…simply because you still can’t rely on finding a good and affordable Internet connection when travelling inyernationally. The Garmin Nuvi made my life so much easier while in Europe.

No obvious reset button but as you point out it is there, located on back of unit under the serial number label (and actually marked "reset" - but in such an unintuitive place you'd easily overlook it).
